Eligibility & Enrollment Service Representative (Contract to Hire)
Location: West Oakland, CA
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Hourly Pay Rate: $23-$24
Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, Saturdays 8:00am to 1:00pm as needed.

Eligibility & Enrollment Service Representative is responsible for registering patients and managing their basic information. This role verifies patient insurance coverage/eligibility, collects and processes patient payments, and ensures accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) at the time of check-in.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greets and checks-in patients using intake procedures, such as completion of
    healthcare and insurance forms.
  • Updates Electronic Health Record (EHR) as needed at the time of check-in.
  • Answer incoming calls and patient questions; respond to queries related to registration.
  • Collects payment for services.
  • Confirm and update demographics, scrub schedule, and check insurance eligibility.
  • Makes corrections in the EHR related to demographics and insurance coverage.
  • Performs high-volume, detail-oriented data entry
  • Clearly communicates and provides information to patients regarding eligibility
    guidelines and services covered by various County, State, and federally funded
    programs, clinic programs, and service information in person and physically.
  • Enroll eligible patients into free or low-cost sliding fee discount coverage for medical, dental, or optometry services.
  • Coordinate with other departments when needed to resolve registration/eligibility issues.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment. 
  • Warm, professional in-person and telephone presence.
  • Prior experience in administration or customer service is a plus.
  • 1+ year of recent healthcare registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
  • Experience with Epic EHR (patient appointment scheduling/check-in and documentation) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
