Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, Saturdays 8:00am to 1:00pm as needed.
Eligibility & Enrollment Service Representative is responsible for registering patients and managing their basic information. This role verifies patient insurance coverage/eligibility, collects and processes patient payments, and ensures accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) at the time of check-in.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets and checks-in patients using intake procedures, such as completion of
healthcare and insurance forms. - Updates Electronic Health Record (EHR) as needed at the time of check-in.
- Answer incoming calls and patient questions; respond to queries related to registration.
- Collects payment for services.
- Confirm and update demographics, scrub schedule, and check insurance eligibility.
- Makes corrections in the EHR related to demographics and insurance coverage.
- Performs high-volume, detail-oriented data entry
- Clearly communicates and provides information to patients regarding eligibility
guidelines and services covered by various County, State, and federally funded
programs, clinic programs, and service information in person and physically. - Enroll eligible patients into free or low-cost sliding fee discount coverage for medical, dental, or optometry services.
- Coordinate with other departments when needed to resolve registration/eligibility issues.
QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment.
- Warm, professional in-person and telephone presence.
- Prior experience in administration or customer service is a plus.
- 1+ year of recent healthcare registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
- Experience with Epic EHR (patient appointment scheduling/check-in and documentation) preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
