Perinatal Mental Health Clinician / Mental Health Professional Black Maternal and Infant Health Program

Pay Rate: $36 per hour
Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of Black mothers and infants? AlliedUP is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Professional to support our Black Maternal and Infant Health Program. In this impactful role, you will provide culturally affirming mental health services, case management, and community support to improve health outcomes for African American birthing individuals across the East Bay area. Your work will help address critical disparities, foster community resilience, and promote health equity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct participant enrollments, including orientations, informed consent, and mental health assessments
- Offer supportive, culturally resonant mental health education and postpartum care
- Maintain precise documentation in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
- Link participants to Medi-Cal and community mental health resources
- Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings and group facilitation addressing maternal health disparities
- Develop and sustain referral relationships with local mental health providers
- Stay current on Black maternal health literature, trauma, and social determinants of health
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field from an accredited institution required.
- At least 1 year of experience in maternal, infant, and child health support required.
- Proven experience providing mental health counseling for Black birthing and parenting individuals.
- Strong knowledge of community resources serving Alameda County
- Ability to work in person across multiple sites including West Oakland, Emeryville, North Oakland, and South Berkeley
- Excellent documentation, reporting, and data management skills
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (Epic experience a plus)
- Ability to operate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to cultural humility, client-centered approaches, and confidentiality
- Willingness to stay informed on current research and best practices in Black maternal and infant health
Nice to Have Skills:
- Maternal Mental Health Certification
- Deep lived experience or cultural knowledge of African American communities
- Knowledge of infant development, breastfeeding, nutrition, and social health disparities
- If driving is required for assigned duties, must possess a valid California driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record
