We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at a vibrant community health clinic located in Oakland, California. Location: West Oakland with occasional coverage of East Oakland locations.
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Hourly Pay Rate: $26
Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, Saturdays 8:00am to 1:00pm as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for dental examinations and treatments, ensuring comfort and relaxation
- Support licensed dentists by preparing and organizing instruments and dental records
- Assist chair-side during various dental procedures with professionalism and care
- Take and process X-rays, ensuring accuracy and safety
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment following OSHA standards
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and oral health best practices
- Manage dental records and documentation efficiently in electronic health records (EHR) systems
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant, preferably in a community health or high-volume practice
- Flexibility to work across East and West Oakland locations
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and dental procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and electronic health record systems
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude
- Excellent interpersonal skills to serve a diverse patient population
- Availability to work Saturdays as needed
Required Certifications & Immunizations:
- Completion of Dental Assisting Program
- CPR Certification
- Valid California Radiation Safety (X-Ray) Certificate
- MMR Vaccines (two doses or titers), Immunization Records, or Waiver
- Tdap within the past 10 years or Waiver
- Flu Shot within the past year or Waiver
- Hepatitis B Series (three doses or titers) or Immunization Records
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Familiarity with Practice Management Systems (PMS)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
