We are seeking a Director of Nursing that is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) who provides strategic and operational leadership for all clinical care teams within a community health setting. The Director ensures that nursing and patient care services are delivered with excellence, compassion, and cultural responsiveness — advancing our client’s mission to promote equitable, holistic, and accessible healthcare for all.
This role collaborates closely with medical directors, site managers, and executive leadership to strengthen clinical quality, streamline care coordination, and improve health outcomes for the diverse populations our client serves. Our client is a respected FQHC serving their community for over 50 years.

Salary: Up to $190,000 commensurate with experience

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Operations
- Lead and oversee daily operations of clinical teams — including RNs, LVNs, MAs, and phlebotomists — ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care in a community-based setting.
- Manage staffing and coverage to align with patient and community needs, including proactive scheduling, call-out coverage, and coordination with site managers.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and performance coaching to nursing staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Ensure nursing practices are evidence-based, trauma-informed, and aligned with our client’s philosophy of whole-person, community-centered care.
- Collaborate with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow, access, and service delivery.
- Champion continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational effectiveness.
- Conduct regular clinical rounding and audits to ensure compliance with infection control, safety standards, and care protocols.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal healthcare regulations, including HRSA and FQHC guidelines where applicable.
- Address and resolve patient concerns promptly, ensuring dignity, respect, and transparency throughout the process.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability, emphasizing preventive care and community wellness.
- Support the integration of clinical and community services to address social determinants of health (SDOH).
- Collaborate with outreach, behavioral health, and social service teams to improve care coordination for vulnerable and underserved populations.
- Lead initiatives that strengthen patient education, health literacy, and engagement within the community.
- Serve as a visible nursing leader and advocate for patients, families, and caregivers.
- Oversee onboarding and orientation for new clinical staff, ensuring alignment with community health values and competencies.
- Lead continuing education and skills development programs, including EPIC training, chronic disease management, and culturally responsive care.
- Facilitate team huddles, training sessions, and performance evaluations to reinforce best practices and drive professional excellence.
- Mentor emerging nurse leaders and promote internal career advancement within the organization.
- Provide regular reports and operational insights to the Executive Team, Site Managers, and the Director of Clinical Services Operations (CSO).
- Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives that strengthen care quality, patient experience, and community partnerships.
- Maintain transparent, respectful communication across departments and with external partners to promote collaboration and shared accountability.
- Collaborate with the CSO and Medical Directors to manage budgets, ensuring efficient use of financial and material resources.
- Oversee inventory and supply chain management, maintaining readiness for both routine operations and community health outreach efforts.
- Support grant-funded initiatives and data collection to sustain and expand patient care programs.
- Uphold commitment to equitable, patient-centered, and culturally competent care.
- Advocate for health equity, addressing systemic barriers that impact the well-being of the community and other marginalized populations.
- Foster a compassionate, inclusive environment that reflects the diversity and resilience of the communities served.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive nursing leadership in a community health, FQHC, or primary care environment.
- Demonstrated success in managing interdisciplinary teams and improving population health outcomes.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in quality improvement, compliance, and health equity initiatives.
- Proficiency in EPIC or similar EHR systems.
- Deep understanding of social determinants of health and their impact on care delivery.
